Solution overview

Tivoli Continuous Data Protection reduces total cost of ownership by eliminating expensive hardware, software and maintenance costs or upgrades, and ensures companies enjoy the security and reliability of routine scheduled backups without utilizing trained IT staff. Client data resides in an off-site, security-rich location. In the event of a recovery GDV can restore the data easily using any Web browser. There are no tapes to handle or catalog, and no staff to train or maintain.

Tivoli Continuous Data Protection provides the ability to back up open and continually charging databases on daily, weekly, or monthly schedules utilizing secure VPN data transfer and a fully managed, secure data recovery process.

Multiple backups can be performed daily, and data is immediately protected offsite. Clients benefit from a reduced backup window and scheduled backups with no need for client intervention.

Dr. Griffel had to make full recovery of his dental practice databases in excess of 100 days to validate inconsistencies, a frustrating process. His data couldn’t be recovered quickly, leading to lost productivity.

Dr. Griffel wanted to ensure that his data was protected on a continual basis and secured off-site as soon as it was created. He was concerned about accurate archiving, timing, integrity and recovery of data. Dr. Griffel wanted to be confident that whenever a recovery was required, it could be done. GDV deployed Secure Managed Backup solution powered by Tivoli so that protected data could be transferred at specific 15 minutes intervals using Tivoli Storage Manager to a high security data center onto IBM x series servers and storage. The CDP solution now ensures that client appointment and billing data is accurate and reliable, all the time.
